Sary-Chelek is a nature reserve in Jalal-Abad region, protected since 1959 and a UNESCO biosphere reserve since 1978; its headquarters are in the village of Arkyt. No public transport goes into the reserve. From Osh the road runs Osh → Jalal-Abad → Tash-Kumyr on asphalt, then up the Kara-Suu valley to Arkyt — about 300 km and 6 hours; the last 15 km to the lake are inside the reserve, with the entry fee paid at the Arkyt gate. Is there a bus to Sary-Chelek?
Shared taxis and marshrutkas go as far as the district towns; there is no scheduled service up to Arkyt and none inside the reserve. Most visitors without a tour hire a car for the whole trip — the driver takes you to the lake and on to your guesthouse in Arkyt.

In guesthouses in Arkyt, by the reserve headquarters. Plan at least one night: a same-day return from Osh means about 12 hours in the car.
Can I combine Sary-Chelek with Arslanbob?
