Karakol → Jyrgalan transfer
Jyrgalan, 60 km east of Karakol, is two things: a summer trekking village and, from December 2026, the site of Ala-Too Resort — Kyrgyzstan's state-built ski cluster with new Doppelmayr lifts. It is also the home of the country's cat-skiing.

The road
Asphalt east from Karakol through Teploklyuchenka, then the Jyrgalan valley road, which was being widened and paved in 2026. In winter a 4x4 or minivan on winter tyres with chains.

- Staying in Karakol and skiing Ala-Too or cat-skiing in Jyrgalan? Book the daily return: 4x4 $150 with the driver waiting all day.
- The resort has almost no hotels yet in its first winter — most skiers will sleep in Karakol.

How do I get from Karakol to Jyrgalan?
A marshrutka runs a few times a day (150–200 som), or private car in 1.25–1.5 hours: sedan $55, 4x4 $85.
Is Ala-Too Resort open?
The first lifts (B-1, B-2) ran technical tests in July 2026 and the opening is announced for December 2026. We update our ski page as soon as the date and ski-pass prices are confirmed.
Can you take us cat-skiing?
