Karakol → Almaty: questions

About 7–8 hours via Kegen when the crossing is open, 10–11 hours via Bishkek. Add time for the border.

In season a bus runs a few times a week via Kegen, and shared cars leave from Karakol bus station when full. A private car goes when you want, from your guesthouse, and stops where you ask.

Yes. Tell us the flight time; we set the departure from Karakol with a buffer for the border and drive straight to ALA.

Yes on the Kegen route — a one-hour stop at the canyon rim for $40, or make it a 2-day trip with Kolsai lakes.
