A match needs the same town, the same destination and roughly the same day to line up, and outside June–September there is barely any traffic at all. Post anyway — it costs nothing — but set the alert too, because that is the part that works when the board is empty. And if you are already in Karakol, the whiteboard in the lobby at Duet is still the fastest thing going for same-day plans; this board exists to cover the other four hostels, the other towns, and the week before you arrive.

Is RideKG free?
Yes, completely, and there is nothing to buy anywhere on it. No account, no email required to post, no commission on anything you arrange. It is run by Zoomy Travel, a Karakol tour operator, who appear only in the footer as a fallback if the board cannot help you.
How do I actually split the cost of a 4x4?
You agree it between yourselves before you get in — usually the vehicle price divided by the number of people, in cash, in som. Sort out who is paying the driver and how you are splitting it while you are still standing on the pavement, not at the trailhead. RideKG never handles money.
Nobody is going my way. What now?
Set an alert with your route and date window — you get one email when a matching trip is posted. Most people post two to five days ahead, so an alert set a week out usually catches something. Failing that, ask at your hostel: the Duet whiteboard in Karakol is genuinely effective for same-day plans.
Is it safe to meet up with people from here?
Use the judgment you would use with anyone you met at a hostel. Meet in town before you drive anywhere, tell someone your plan, and trust your gut — nobody here is vetted beyond spam filtering. There is more on this in hiking alone in Kyrgyzstan.
Where do the prices on this site come from?
Public sources and travellers' own trip reports, and every figure names its source and the date it was checked. They are reference numbers to negotiate from, not quotes — nothing here is for sale.
