The border at Korday
Every option crosses the same post. Passengers walk through Kazakh exit and Kyrgyz entry control; cars go through the vehicle lanes. That is why a border swap works: you walk across with your bags and a second driver with a name sign waits on the other side — waiting is free however long the queue. Full step-by-step: Korday border crossing guide.
From Almaty airport straight to Bishkek
Landing at ALA and heading to Bishkek? Our sister service RideKZ meets you at arrivals with a name sign; the other way, Bishkek → Almaty airport is $250 by sedan and Manas airport → Almaty airport $260, both planned with a 4-hour buffer before your flight (Bishkek → Almaty airport).
When a private car is cheaper
From three people, a car is close to bus money per person and saves 1–2 hours: a minivan with a swap is $250 for up to 6 ($42 each for 6). With heavy luggage, children, skis or a flight to catch, the car wins outright.
Questions
Can a Kazakh taxi cross into Kyrgyzstan?
Some do, but most Almaty taxis and Yandex drivers stop at the Korday post: you walk across and find another car on the Kyrgyz side. A pre-booked border swap has the second car already waiting.
How long is the Korday queue?
Usually 15–60 minutes on foot for both controls; on Friday and Sunday evenings and around holidays it can be several hours. Late night and weekday mornings are quietest.
Do I need a visa?
Many nationalities enter both countries visa-free, but not all — check the visa rules by nationality before you travel.
What is the cheapest way from Almaty to Bishkek?
The bus or marshrutka from Sayran bus station: about 2,200–3,300 tenge a seat, 5–6 hours with the border. A private car makes sense from 3 people or with luggage.
